Another In The Fire

Dear Friends, 

Another fire.

If you've been following along, you know that just ten days ago a wildfire came dangerously close to Ice Age HQ in Reno. I wrote about it here.

Then Saturday morning, Arturo, who lives close to our kitchen, sent me this photo.

“This thing started 10 minutes ago.”

It got big. Fast.

Before long, Arturo and Nancy were evacuated from their home. They loaded up their four cats and spent nearly three hours traveling two miles trying to get out.

By 2:24PM, Samson sent me this photo and said, "Reno's on fire."

By Monday, the interstate was closed, UPS had suspended operations in the Reno area, and while Ice Age HQ itself wasn't under evacuation, there was essentially no way to get there.

So, for the first time in a long time, we couldn't ship your meals.

We're back at the kitchen now and assessing everything.

Arturo and Nancy and their cats are back home and everyone on our team is safe.

One of the songs I've been listening to for a few years now is called "Another In The Fire" (you can hear it here)

It's a reminder that no matter what we are going through, there is another in the fire with us.

In the Bible in Daniel 3, you can read the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They are thrown into a fire for now bowing to king Nebuchadnezzar. In verse 25, it says “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

Open your Bible and give it a read! It's titled "The Image Of Gold and the Fiery Furnace" and it takes less than 5 minutes.
